Professional Biography

Prof. Belhaq joined the University Hassan I I de Casablanca in 1982 after receiving his doctorate from the University Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France. He was a visiting professor and lecturer several times at Free University of Berlin, University of Sevilla, University of L’Aquila, Ecole Centrale Lyon, INSA Lyon, University Complutence of Madrid, University of Cottbus, Military University of Warsaw, University of Munich, Cornell University, Virginia Tech University, Perdue University, the Indiana State University, University of Jordan and CNRS Marseille,...
Prof. Belhaq directed and co-supervised 16 Ph. D. theses. He received two Fulbright Scholarship awards for conducting research at Cornell University in 1997 and at Virginia Tech University in 2005 and a DAAD scholarship for visiting Free University Berlin in 2002. He is serving as a reviewer in several international leading journals (Journal of Sound and Vibration, Journal of Vibration and Control, Applied Mechanical Review, ASME, Nonlinear Dynamics, International Journal of Non-linear Mechanics, International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, Mechanics Research Communications, Computers and Mathematics with Applications, Applied Mathematical Modeling, Mathematical Modeling in Engineering, Journal of Dynamic Systems Measurement and Control, Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics, Communication  in Nonlinear Sc and Numerical Simulation, Physica A, Meccanica, Applied Mathematics and Computation…).
He serves as an Associate Editor to the international “Journal of Vibration and Control” and he is on the editorial board of International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Journal of Nonlinear Dynamics and Journal of Modeling, Simulation, Identification and Control.
Prof. Belhaq is a member of the International Research Center for Mathematics & Mechanics of Complex Systems (M&MoCS) and he is the author and co-author of 100 scientific papers published in leading journals in mechanics, nonlinear dynamics and applied mathematics. He contributed in many international conferences and workshops.

Research Interests

Current research focuses on investigating nonlinear dynamics of mechanical systems using perturbation methods, bifurcation analysis and numerical simulations. Current projects involve:
- Nonlinear dynamics,
- Quasi-periodic parametric equations, 
- Synchronization phenomena and control,
- Effect of high-frequency excitation of nonlinear oscillators,
Applications include control of hysteresis in nonlinear systems including micro- and nano-electromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS).
